Documents and a camera on a desk related to archaeological investigation in Plymouth, Devon.

A WSI is a document that provides a methodology and a set of archaeological procedures to satisfy a planning condition. The document outlines the known and potential archaeological features, deposits and the heritage assets on and relevant to a site. ISCA Archaeology provides WSIs for all types of archaeological investigations.

Our dedicated field team has experience in all aspects of fieldwork. We offer a range of on-site services, including watching briefs, evaluations, and excavations of every size to fulfill your planning condition. ISCA Archaeology has extensive experience working with heavy plant, Leica GPS systems and other equipment in order to work effectively and safely across site.

Post- Excavation

In compliance with the principles and guidelines outlined by the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CifA), we produce detailed post-excavation reports. Archaeological investigations provide a wealth of finds and data, all of which require further analysis and investigation to provide specialised and detailed reports. In pursuance of this, we utilise and collaborate with specialists from all fields.

Community Engagement

At ISCA Archaeology we believe that our history should be available to all, we are always excited to help share our heritage and our knowledge through varied and effective community engagement. We seek to offer opportunities for anyone to get involved in archaeology via a whole host of activities, including volunteering, presentations and open days.

Archaeological Geophysical Surveying

Archaeological Geophysical Surveying

Geophysical investigation provides an essential element of the planning, mitigation and heritage management processes.

Survey techniques include magnetometry, earth resistance and ground-penetrating radar.

The most appropriate method, or combination of methods, is selected according to local soil conditions and the specific requirements of each project.

These non-intrusive techniques provide fast and accurate assessments of buried archaeological remains on both large and small sites, helping to inform planning applications, archaeological evaluations and heritage management strategies.
